Tigerboy
Here he is with his new haircut:
I wasn`t too keen about the gel part but he was so happy with it (he didn`t want to take a bath the first night because he thought it would ruin his cool hair) that I broke down and bought some. I now find myself "styling" my 5-year-old son`s hair every morning. sheesh.
Here is the first picture he drew at his new kindergarten (he is KG2!):
Seems pretty normal, no?! Look closely at the upper righthand corner. Do you see it?
That is his name in Arabic. He gets a 45 minute Arabic class every day and they already started learning to write. In the picture, he traced over the teacher`s letters (symbols? characters?). Hopefully he learns quickly so he can translate for me with our concierge. I need to let the concierge know when he can come up to our apartment to hook up the cable tv. So far things aren`t being understood between us and we`ve been trying all week! Life is hard. ;)

LOL! I have a gel boy as well. Joey is adamant that I gel his hair "like Uncle Jonathan's" every day and I sometimes spend more time on his hair than my own! He is definitely going to be a vain one when he grows up!! (Just like my brother who is his godfather!) I love that K is learning arabic. Joey has french classes at his pre-school and I love that he is going to be introduced to another language apart from Japanese and English but arabic would be WAY cooler than French!!

Love the new hair cut and lol about the gel! Saw his picture in Flickr and was wondering about the writing.Impressive stuff! With English ,Japanese and Arabic your kids are going to have such an easy time job hunting in the future;)

arabic could be a handy language.. english too... japanese of course...looks like a winner all the way around.

Midori, I love Joey`s hair...it`s tres cool! And if he knows French, he will be fine here in Lebanon (French and English are both 2nd languages to Arabic!).
Marianne, I hope so. They need to support me and Tigerpapa. :)
Jan, I feel MORE foreign here than I did in Japan...maybe because I don`t have a "network" yet?!

He is absolutely gorgeous! So, it isn't just Japanese beauticians who put gel on little boys hair.
And the Arabic is so cool. What a wonderful life your children have!

Wow. My daughter is in KG2 (nenchuu right?) and I'm still trying to convince her you can't just right the letters of your name in any random order. Arabic on top of English and Japanese is amazing. How do you work the trilingual thing in your family?

kappa, They are already complaining about the arabic class (dd has 80 minutes per day!) because they can`t understand anything the teacher is saying. I keep telling them to just listen and try hard and one day it will click. I hope so!
Fuka, my son can`t write his name in the correct order either. We are far far from trilingual but hopefully, after 3 years, they will understand a lot more arabic!

TB looks so very cooool-how long does it take to do his hair? lol
The whole Tiger family seems pretty cool with all the languages going on around there. ;)

Hi Sheri, it only takes a couple of seconds to do his hair. Grab the gel and tousel the front!

I think Tigerboy looks super cool with his new hairdo!!!! : ) It hit me when I saw his picture Tigermama.....he's growing up! Sniff sniff! : )
And I think that's awesome that they are learning, arabic! : )

Hi Gina, the hair really makes him look older but it`s his wanting to look "cool" that makes me think he is really growing up!

He's one good looking little guy!
I suppose the styling is the half-Japanese part!! But nothing wrong with that!!
I think that the learning Arabic is awesome! I was just reading an article saying that Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese are the BIG 3 for the future.. although I'm wondering about Japanese so much..
Good for TB and TG!!! I'm sure they will pick it up! (so jealous of that youthful brain power)

Thanks Sara! I`m really hoping that 3 years is long enough for them to get a good grasp of arabic. I know it will help them in the future...they could be the next "Jack Bauer"! lol.
