The Event Pt. 2

LOL at your answers....especially hula hooping! The big event was a family FOLK dance with an emphasis on square dancing. It was lots of fun especially for Tigerboy who loves music. Tigerpapa was concerned that he was one of only 2 dads present. I told him it is a great example for our kids that he came and participated. Not only did we have fun, but I discovered a new chocolatey treat. It`s called a Kinder Delice and it`s made up of a double layer of soft dark chocolate cake, filled with creamy milk chocolate and then covered in rich, dark chocolate:

They are sooooo good!

    OH that sounds like fun!

Perhaps next time the family event will involve hula hooping!

We have kinder suprises in Australia- are they similar to that chocolate maybe?

You know Lulu, I bought a hoola hoop in July because it`s such a good workout and it`s fun. Have you tried it?

Kinder surprises are made by the same company. These are just more like a cake than a chocolate bar. Delish!

    How fun for you all!

My primary school had an annual bush dance held in a shearing shed (how country can you get, hey?) ;) I loved it. Haven't done bush dancing since then, though. I'd love to share it with my kids.

Fukases: Is Bush dancing like Square dancing? I`m intrigued!

Well I googled and it seems it's similar but not the same. (I thought they were one and the same) Here's the wikipedia passage on the similarities:

Bush dances are similar to American line dances or American square dances, in that all dancers know certain steps and execute them together. Partners are often changed in the course of the dance. There are many standard dances that dancers are either taught or expected to know, such as the The Ninepins Quadrille (nicknamed The Drongo by The Bushwackers Band), in which one person is excluded from the group when they have no partner and are 'mocked' by the others. Another popular, simple, progressive dance, often used with children, is the Heel-Toe Polka (also known as the Brown Jug Polka), where partners slap their knees, hands and partners' hands.

In my school each class had a dance they performed for everyone then danced again with all the audience joining in. The 1st grade did the heel-toe polka, all the way through to the 6th grade doing strip-the-willow. The girls wore skirts and flannelette shirts and the guys wore jeans and flannette shirts. Everyone wore boots because it was held in a sheering shed and well...yeah sheep and all that!

Oh, I remember square dancing. Grab your partners, do-si-dos, and promenades. I bet it is so much more fun with family. Those chocolatey goodies looks delish!

i was yanked into a square last year at an international festival and while going backward (with my partner) fell flat on my butt because the other couple was off step. I love square dancing!!!

Thefukases (I always want to use your name here and laugh addressing you as "thefukases"), it sounds exactly like square dancing...right down to the boots but minus the audience participation.

Kappa, you have NO IDEA how good they are. I ate 3 today and I`m holding myself back from having another one.

Jan, was that in Japan? I imagine it was quite popular with the Japanese. All of the choreographed moves would appeal to them, I think. Like those elaborate cheers at the baseball games.

Lauriebelle, Really? Bob would Folk dance? That I gotta see! :) The cookie recipe was from a blog I read. The title of the recipe had "easy" in it so I had to try it.
