Blessings

I was so happy to find real rye bread at the grocery store last week. It`s delicious especially used for grilled cheese sandwiches:

I found a bilingual Catholic church down here in the town next to ours and so we attend mass whenever we can. Sometimes I go alone and sometimes I take the kids. Lately the kids have been asking to come with me because they love to go up to the front at the end of mass to receive a blessing from the priest. He is a really nice man and always comes over to say hello after the service. I`ll miss him when he retires next year:

Tomorrow we will attend our first Christmas party of the season at the home of one of my friends here on Okinawa. I`m off to purchase a gift for the "secret santa" game. I figure something from The Body Shop will go over well. I also have to make my yummy dill dip for a veggie platter I`m bringing.

So that`s 3 blessings in one week! Pretty good, I`d say!

Ja ne.

I am delighted for you to have a mass to go to, and I think the real blessing is that Kai & Kiana are drawn to be there too!

Marianne, Yes we were really lucky to find a church so close to us. Most of the English churches are up near the American military bases (quite far from us).

Kristin, as they get older they seem to like it more and more. I don`t even have to bring any toys to keep them occupied anymore!

Gina, Yep born and raised Roman Catholic. The party was really fun. It`s so nice to have other foreign wives around me!

My son's middle name is Kai. We use the kanji for ocean. What about you?

Yay, Tigermama! Same here! : )

Did you and Tigerpapa have a Catholic wedding or a Japanese one? Also, did you baptize the kids? Sorry for all the questions (dork that I am : ), it's just awesome to not only both be foreign wives, but to also be a fellow Roman Catholic's as well. Yippy! PS, I go to Catholic mass in English here as well : )

Trisha, we used that kanji too! I just love the name Kai (obviously). It`s super popular in the "foreign wives" community though. I think I know of at least 7 boys named Kai and 3 of them live here on Okinawa (makes sense with being an island and all)!

Gina, our wedding was a sign-the-papers-at-the-ward-office affair and then we had a party back home and a party here so no wedding at all. We did have the kids baptized however, during our trips home. How about your boys...did you get them baptized?

We had a Catholic wedding at the Kitano Roman Catholic church in Osaka. And we had the boys both baptized in Denver during visits home. We went to marriage classes at my church in Denver. I wouldn't marry him without the Catholic ceremony, ha ha ha seriously! : )
But I was flexible for anything else though. You know I have known you for ages Tigermama, years actually. And have always liked you tons but knowing you are Catholic really warms my heart and makes me feel so much closer to you somehow. Man that must sound so stupid, ha ha ha! Sorry! : )

And, by the way, I love the name Kai as well! It's a gorgeous name! : )

Gina, it doesn`t sound stupid at all. In fact, I know exactly how you feel! :)
