Okinawa Aquarium and Tropical Dream Center

There is a lot to see on Okinawa and we have seen most of it over the past week. We went up North to the Churaumi Aquarium, Oceanic Culture Museum, and The Tropical Dream Center. These three attractions are within walking distance of each other and really amazing places. The Aquarium is one of the best in the world and really fun for the kids. It`s the only Aquarium with Manta rays as the tanks are so huge:

The Tropical Dream Center is a series greenhouses with over 1000 Orchids in bloom (as well as many other plants, fruit trees, and flowers). It was really nice to go there after the "spring holiday" crowds at the aquarium:

Sorry for a rushed post. I just wanted to get a little something up to show what we`ve been doing. I`ll write more later!

Update

It`s been so busy around here the last month or so. In anticipation of my parents impending visit, I decided to do some re-decorating and got rid of a huge entertainment centre I had mistakenly purchased when we first moved to Okinawa. It was a mistake because it was HUGE and took up all of the space in our little tatami living room. This picture shows you the aftermath of my little purge. All of the items around the tv and on the table used to be housed inside the entertainment unit. Can you believe that???

Then I went shopping and bought a few size-appropriate pieces of furniture to take Giant E.C.`s place. Everything`s messy right now or I`d post a picture of my handy work. :)

So, my parents arrived last week and we have been trying to do some sightseeing in the midst of some really crappy (rainy) weather. Fortunately, they are easy to please and have been enjoying hanging around with their grandchildren. Tigergirl and Tigerboy are in their element "performing" for them and playing with them all day long. Hula hoop has been a big hit:

Here`s a video clip of Tigerboy doing the hula hoop. I cringe whenever I listen to my voice on the tape but I thought the clip was too cute to let my vanity prevent me from sharing it! :)

It is wonderful to have my parents here. I`ll post soon about our adventures.

Ja ne!

Hapyokai

The kids had their "hapyokai" (school show) a couple of weeks ago and I`ve been meaning to post a couple of pictures. Our camera is getting old and sometimes it acts up and the pictures don`t turn out even though I`ve done everything right. It`s unfortunate that it tends to happen at big events but what can you do? Anyhoo, this one says it all:

Which one of these things is not like the other? Haha. Tigergirl is always doing her own thing. Thankfully, she doesn`t take it too far.

Here`s Tigerboy. He always follows instructions to a tee. They are soooo different!

I was especially impressed with Tigerboy`s class`s skit. They did a rendition of the book, "No David" which is a book about a naughty little boy who keeps doing things to make his mother say, "No David". It`s a great book and really funny. I actually use the English version in my classes and it`s always a favourite. Anyway, Tigerboy`s line was "You must put the garbage in the waste basket" and he did it clearly and in a great loud voice. I was very proud of him. :)

Have a great weekend!
