Stamps Galore

I sent a large envelope to my parents 2 weeks before Christmas. I thought it would take me 10 minutes to pop by the post office and get it in the mail. Wrong! First, I had to wait while the guy behind the counter talked on the phone for awhile. Then I had to wait wile the guy behind the counter chatted with his coworker for awhile. Then I had to wait while the guy behind the counter helped the old woman who came in after me and passed him a package while I was standing there waiting. Then I had to wait while the guy behind the counter (at a giant sloth`s pace) weighed and measured the envelope. Then I had to wait while the guy behind the counter used his calculator to determine the number of stamps I would need to send the envelope. Then I personally placed each of the stamps on the envelope. Finally, I had to wait while the guy behind the counter finished his coffee so that I could pass him the envelope to place it in the basket right beside his desk.

30 frickin` minutes later....

...this was on it`s way back home!

Wow. I bet you buy birthday presents online! And I thought I had problems trying to make sure my parcels end up in AUSTRALIA and not AUSTRIA!

I have gotten so used to customer service here in Japan, I get flustered when I'm not treated the same elsewhere = ( like at Starbucks in Manhattan.. ERR

But my goodness how did you say calm.. I do like the stamps though.. hehe

Ok- I think my brain is disintegrating- did you say that you ended up taking the envelope back home after all that??!!!
But you know, BC service isn't that far off from what you just described. It was amusing and painful to watch how complicated it was for me and everyone to get anything done this past Christmas- from flying, shopping, ordering a pizza everything was made into an ordeal.

Hi Lily! My brain was disintegrating at the time as well. lol. The package did indeed get sent off after all of the hoopla. I have learned a lot about patience in this country. It`s reassuring to know it`s not just Lebanon. :)

Those are a lot of stamps Tigermama and you are so nice to stand and wait in line like that for as long as you did, even while he finished his coffee, lol. You do have patience. I bet you miss the customer service in Japan.
