Garbage days

And I do mean DaySSSSSSS. We have a myrid of different ways to dispose of our garbage. It can be a tad confusing. Here`s the chart:

Today was "sodai gomi" day which meant that we can throw out large items like strollers or computer monitors. Since I had a lot of these items piling up on the balcony over the past year, I decided to go for it. I got the stickers I needed last night at the grocery store and checked (with Tigerpapa`s help) the chart to make sure I had the right day. Then, this morning, I took five large items down to the garbage disposal area in front of our building. Feeling good about finally getting rid of these items, I confidentaly walked over to the bus pick-up area with the kids and said to one of the other mothers, "Today is sodai gomi day, right?". You know, just to be safe. She nodded and said yes and then,"DID YOU CALL THE GARBAGE COMPANY LAST NIGHT?" What? You have to call? Crap! Once again I had failed in one of the mundane daily tasks that need to be taken care of in Japan. Thankfully, the company accepted the call this morning and they were able to come and get the stuff. Phew, disaster averted.

Do you like my new ketai strap? It took me many months to find one that I liked. This one is not only cute but it`s useful as well. If ever I need to fillet a fish and identify the right sashimi parts, I can just consult the diagram on my fish. Woohoo!

Very cute keitai strap and extra cute video in the last post.
The garbage days get confusing- kudos to you for figuring out when to throw out those large items.

    PS
Thanks for the comment on my last post- I am even more excited to move to Aobadai. Cheers to 2007- can't wait to meet the Tigerfamily.

Love the strap!I am strapless and still trying to find one that I like.

And gomi...Well,DH worked for the garbage and recycling section of the town hall for a year so he is right up on when and where it goes. But it also means that the neighbourhood gomi police always open up gomi bags hoping,I suppose,to catch us out doing something "illegal" in the gomi-world.

As for gomi, you reminded me that I have a video recorder lurking under my bed that I need to call the sodai gomi dudes about!!

Cute keitai strap, Mine has a jeweled flip flop sandal.

About the trash days. OMG! They drive me crazy! I have the normal trash days down okay! But the "special" days like plastic bottles which is only once a month are a stumper for me sometimes. And the "big stuff" trash day is another wonder I won't even delve into right now! LOL, so I hear ya! : )
